Sud-àfrica pot semblar que sigui un país poc roquer, però al llarg d’un recorregut de diferents formacions dels anys 60s i 70s anirem demostrant que hi havia formacions ben interessants. Molts grups, per desgràcia, no comptaven normalment amb tanta promoció, amb produccions tan bones com a d’altres indrets o sovint copiaven en excés; però d’altres anaven oferint un nivell molt alt.
Certes bandes o músics marxaven del seu país o bé a buscar fortuna musical i d’altres per motius polítics, molt descontents amb el mal ambient creat per l’Apartheid.
Hem escollit una sèrie de bandes prou representativa de garatge com: Them , pop com Floribunda Rose, rock com Freedoms Children, afro-rock...
